Generating traffic is a necessary task for every online marketer. The stark reality is that having the site just isn’t enough. People need to feel like they have a good reason to visit your site, too. Creating traffic to your site isn’t rocket science, but it’s something you need to learn how to do… plus it takes work and time. The most serious marketers work on traffic generation methods every business working day. If you cast your net wide enough, with traffic generation, eventually people may start spreading some word about your site especially if you do social marketing. But for now, we’ll discuss some methods you can use today to begin seeing more traffic.
One good way to create traffic to your website is to leave comments on blogs. You have to put some thought into this, however. Don’t do what some people do, and leave “nice blog” type comments. Leaving this kind of comment is usually considered spamming.
If you don’t want your posts to be deleted, you have to make relevant comments that respond to what others have written. Doing this will make you a valued participant in the discussion. It will also give the blog author a reason to visit your site as well. If you are a valued participant, there is also the chance that the blog owner will give you a place in his blogroll!
Make sure that all of the links in your site work. If some links are not working right, obviously people cannot go to other pages, or your offers. You don’t want to encourage your visitors to leave, once that happens they may never visit again. Also, if you employ an SEO navigation structure to your site, broken links will stop the search engine spiders and that will not help your efforts.
Look around, find and contact the publishers of good quality newsletters, or ezines, in your market topic. Contact them and go slowly, but what you eventually want to do is contribute some content, or articles, to their newsletter. Offer to forego payment for the article in exchange for a couple of links to your websites. If you write good articles, with good information, you’ll see that many newsletters publishers will let you do this. You might even be able to land a regular writing gig (and extra money) that way!
There is no shortage of methods to attract website traffic; in fact, it can be difficult to know which ones you want to use. Our recommendation is that you focus on one traffic building method per day. You should try a technique for at least a couple of months to see if it works for you; if you aren’t satisfied with the results, you can then try another.
Then when you find something that works well, you can increase your efforts in that direction to get even better results. You always want to attract as many visitors to your website as you can. A certain percentage of your visitors will become customers, so more traffic means more money!
